How would you answer the question “Who are you?” Perhaps, I am a man, a woman, a mother, a father, an American, etc. And much more could be said about you and who you are. But to be honest that does not that reveal who you truly are.
The question is really asking about identity, character, and purpose. In 1 Peter 1:1-7, Peter clearly defines who he is in Christ Jesus: I am an Apostle of Jesus Christ, God’s elect, chosen by the foreknowledge of God to preach the gospel, sanctified for the work of the Spirit, forgiven of sin to live for Christ in this world and the one to come. He continues to write these and many more descriptions of he is throughout his book. What a glorious glimpse we have been given as Peter describes who he is and who we are, in Jesus Christ our Lord.
As we continue our walk of faith on planet earth let’s not forget the world is looking, listening, and observing if we truly are (who we say we are). Our character as believers is on display every day. Peter knew this well, as his letters were written to those who were persecuted for their faith and ridiculed for its living it.
Regardless of joy, hardship, success or failure, triumph, temptation or tribulation, the calling of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit is the map by which we navigate a successful Christian life. Remember His promise, “I will be with you”.
Jude 24-25 “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, (25.) To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
