Faith Words Today “To Be”

Most of us will remember the quote from William Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet”, “to be or not to be, that is the question”. Have you ever said or heard someone say something like this, “when I grow up, I want to be….”? The truth is each one of us at sometime or another in our life aspired to be something greater than what we were. Well, the good news is, so does our Lord desire this for all of our lives.

In I Thessalonians 5:23 the Bible teaches us there is more to us than you can see, for we are spirit, we have a soul, and live in a body, kept by the power of a loving God. Simply said, we are spirit, we live in a body, and we have a soul (the mind, will, and intellect of mankind). God has made us to be human beings living on planet earth. However, we currently live in a world who has chosen to adapt its identity to what we do rather than who we are, placing performance before character. This increases the desire for mankind to see or to be seen on a constant basis, which causes many people to feel they simply don’t measure up. But we were created human beings not just, human doings. When our body, spirit, and soul are totally submitted to the will of the Holy Spirit of God, being a Christian is something we become, not just something we have to do. We will never do Christianity right, until we become a faithful Christian first!

Jesus said it this way, Mark 1:17 “Come ye after me and I will make you to become fishers of men.”

Every Christian needs a sign hung around their neck stating,                             “Under Construction” God is not finished with me yet!
